Commenting on the passing of Alistair Darling, Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England said:
“I worked closely with Alistair when he was Chancellor during the global financial crisis. He was a dedicated public servant in the very best sense, combining great skill and determination with profound humility. He steered the British economy ably during a time of great uncertainty. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”
