To apply for the Degree Apprenticeship Development Programme you must meet the below entry requirements:
- For the Data Science and Digital and Technology Solutions streams, you must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 (or C) and above (including English and Maths). You will also need to have achieved or be predicted to achieve three A-Levels at BBB (or equivalent).
- For the Professional Economist and Financial Services Professional streams, you must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 (or C) and above (including English), with Maths at grade 6 (or B). You will also need to have achieved or be predicted to achieve three A-Levels at BBB (or equivalent).
What to expect
We start by giving you an introduction to the many areas of work around the Bank of England. You will get an idea of the breath of specialist roles there are across the organisation. You will also receive training sessions which focus on essential skills.
You will be enrolled on a part time undergraduate degree at a reputable university. Your course will provide you with knowledge that complements the skills and invaluable on-the-job learning that you will gain whilst working here.
We want to support you to succeed so you will be given sufficient time and support to balance your studies with work. As part of the apprenticeship you are allocated 20% of your working hours to study. You will also have the support of your line manager and our Future Talent team will also be on hand to support you throughout the programme.

Data scientists continuously seek to expand and develop their technical skills. They can draw upon a range of knowledge from a variety of fields and organisations.
To apply for the Data Science Degree Apprenticeship, you will need at least five GCSEs at grade 4 (or C) or above, including English and Maths. You’ll also need to have achieved or be predicted three A-Levels (Maths desirable) at BBB or above (120 UCAS points).

Digital and Technology Solutions - University of Exeter
This area is responsible for a range of technologies used in the financial system. Technology that tracks all bank notes in circulation, records gold in the vaults, manages the real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) (a system that settles some £575 billion sterling payments and securities every day), and defends us from cyber-attacks.
This programme can introduce you to experts in the field and provide a wide range of opportunities from the development of systems that underpin our economy, to working on high profile projects.
We have partnered with the University of Exeter, who will provide you with quality tuition as you study towards your undergraduate degree.
To apply for the Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship you will need at least five GCSEs at grade 4 (or C) or above, including English and Maths. You’ll also need to have achieved or be predicted the following: A-Level BBB, IB 30 or BTEC DDM.

Professional Economist - University of Kent
People who work as economists in the private and public sectors. The curriculum covers core materials included in a UK Economics BSc degree. However, the focus of this programme is the application and practical approach to both teaching and learning analytical economics. It also teaches important skills like planning, team work, adaptability and leadership.
The University of Kent’s School of Economics deliver the Professional Economist Degree Apprenticeship. The classes are based on interactive e-learning, on and off-site academic learning and support, and annual residential weeks at the University of Kent (Canterbury campus).
To apply for the Professional Economist Degree Apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 (or C) and above (including English), with Maths at grade 6 (or B). You’ll also need to have achieved or be predicted three A-Levels (or equivalent) at BBB or above (or 120 UCAS points).

Financial Services Professional - University of Exeter
If you are interested in building your knowledge and a career in the Financial Services industry, this Degree Apprenticeship could be for you. We currently partner with the University of Exeter to deliver this Degree Apprenticeship, which combines the Level 4 Investment Operations Specialist Apprenticeship and Level 6 Financial Services Professional Apprenticeship. Successful completion of the Apprenticeship will result in the award of BSc (Hons) Applied Finance, including CFA Institute Level 1.
To apply for the Financial Services Professional Degree Apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 (or C) and above (including English), with Maths at grade 6 (or B). You’ll also need to have achieved or be predicted three A-Levels (or equivalent) at BBB or above (or 120 UCAS points).
