Gwyneth Nurse

Gwyneth represents HM Treasury on the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee. She has been Director General of Financial Services since January 2022, and is responsible for the Treasury’s work to promote stability, fairness, efficiency and competitiveness in financial services. Gwyneth is also a member of the Treasury’s Executive Management Board.

Previously, Gwyneth was Director of Financial Services at the Treasury. Before that, she held a number of roles including Deputy Director of Banking and Credit, as well as Deputy Director of Assets, Savings and Wealth. 

Gwyneth joined the Treasury in 2003.

She is a trained tax inspector and has a degree in music from Cambridge University.
