Bank of England to visit Harlow to hear the views of local people about the cost of living

The Bank of England plans to hear from local people in Harlow about the impact of the cost of living on their finances, as part of our Citizens’ Forum Programme which has been running across the UK since 2018.

About the event

Date: Thursday 23 October 2025, 5.30pm to 8pm

The Bank of England is interested in hearing from people in the Harlow area about the impact of the cost of living on their finances and their experiences of the UK housing market, as part of our Citizens’ Forum Programme which has been running across the UK since 2018.

The event is designed to gather information from local people, which will complement existing data and analysis, and help inform the Bank’s policy decisions.

The event in Harlow on Thursday 23 October (5.30pm-8pm) will give attendees the opportunity to share their views with a senior member of the Bank of England and staff from the Bank's Agency for the South East & East Anglia.

The event will be chaired by Caroline Taylor, Chief Executive of the Essex Community Foundation.

Entry is via pre-registration for forum members only, but anyone aged over 18 is eligible to join our community and register their interest in attending the Harlow panel session before Thursday 9 October when registration closes. The exact location of the event will be shared after registration closes.

Refreshments will be provided, and the Bank will make a payment of £25 to all attendees to cover expenses.
