Bank of England to visit Newham to hear the views of local people about the cost of living

The Bank of England plans to hear from local people in Newham about the impact of the cost of living on their finances, as part of our Citizens’ Forum Programme which has been running across the UK since 2018.

About the event

Date: Monday 10 November 2025, 5.30pm to 8pm

The Bank of England is interested in hearing from people in the Newham area about the impact of the cost of living on their finances and their experiences of the UK housing market, as part of our Citizens’ Forum Programme which has been running across the UK since 2018.

The event is designed to gather information from local people, which will complement existing data and analysis, and help inform the Bank’s policy decisions.

The event in Newham on Monday 10 November (5.30pm-8pm) will give attendees the opportunity to share their views with a senior Bank of England policymaker and staff from the Bank's Agency for Greater London.

The event will be chaired by Josephine McCartney, Chief Executive of The Childhood Trust.

Entry is via pre-registration for forum members only, but anyone aged over 18 is eligible to join our community and register their interest in attending the Newham panel session before Friday 24 October when registration closes. The exact location of the event will be shared after registration closes.

Refreshments will be provided, and the Bank will make a payment of £25 to all attendees to cover expenses.
